The Bachelor of Science in Building Construction is a four-year program for students interested in careers in construction management, techniques, operations and related areas in the construction industry. The degree draws upon skills in communication and interpersonal relations.

Opportunities for advancement and increasing responsibility exist in all areas of the construction industry, including land development, home building, public building and industrialized building systems, commercial, industrial, marine and heavy construction, underwater and space-age facilities, materials and equipment sales and installations, and construction product research, development, sales and applications.

To graduate with this major, students must complete all university, college and major requirements.

Critical Tracking and Recommended Semester Plan

Semester 1:

  • Complete 3 of 15 critical-tracking courses for a total of 9 hours: ACG 2021C, BCN 1210, (BCN 1251C or ARC 1301, ARC 1302), (BCN 2405C or BCN 2400C and BCN 2401C), BUL 4310, ECO 2023, (ENC 1145 or AML 2070 or AML 2410), ENC 3254, (GLY 2010C or GLY 2030C), MAC 2311, STA 2023, PHY 2004/2004L, PHY 2005/2005L, SPC 2608, SPN 1180
  • 2.35 UF GPA required

Semester 2:

  • Complete 13 additional hours of critical-tracking courses
  • 2.4 UF GPA required

Semester 3:

  • Complete 14 additional hours of critical-tracking courses
  • 2.45 UF GPA required

Semester 4:

  • Complete 15 additional hours of critical-tracking courses
  • 2.5 UF GPA required
  • 2.5 GPA on all attempts of critical-tracking courses

Grades of C are required in BCN 1210 and 2405C, ENC 1101 and 3254, MAC 2311,
PHY 2004 and 2005, and in one of the following: AML 2070, AML 2410 or ENC 1145.

To remain on track, students must complete the appropriate critical-tracking courses, which appear in bold.
