DCP 3200 Methods of Inquiry for Sustainability and the Built Evironment
Credits: 3; Prereq: Introduction to Sustainabliltiy and the Built Environment OR a course approved in the topic area.
The breadth of methods of inquiry -- the process of asking and then answering questions -- commonly used by planners, designers and builders as well as those who study the built and managed environments.
DCP 3210 Sustainable Solutions in the Built Environment
Credits: 3; Prereq: Introduction to Sustainabliltiy and the Built Environment OR a course approved in the topic area.
Case studies will be used to examine how sustainability can be achieved in the built environment from the choosing of materials and finishes to patterns of regional land use.
DCP 3220 Social and Cultural Sustainability in the Built Environment
Credits: 3; Prereq: Introduction to Sustainabliltiy and the Built Environment OR a course approved in the topic area.
An exploration of the importance of considering the human users of the built environment when searching for sustainable solutions. Social, behavioral and multicultural perspectives related to social sustainability will be examined.
DCP 4290 Capstone Project in Sustainability and the Built Environment
Credits: 6; Prereq: DCP 4941.
Each student will undertake an individual project under the direction of a faculty member, with a focus on comprehensive solutions to a problem in sustainability.
DCP 4910 Individual Research in Sustanability and the Built Environment
Credits: 6; Prereq: DCP 4941.
Students will undertake an individual research project under the direction of a faculty member, with a focus on comprehensive solutions to problems in sustainability.
DCP 4941 Practicum in Sustainability and the Built Environment
Credits: 6; Prereq: DCP 3210 and DCP 3220 .
Students from diverse backgrounds will engage in service, learning through the development of sustainable solutions to challenges in the built environment.
DCP 4942 Field Experience in Sustanability and the Built Environment
Credits: 6; Prereq: DCP 3210.
Field experience with a government, non-government or private office that focuses on issues of sustainability.
