Minors - Music Literature and Theory

Hours: 17-19 credits, all completed with grades of C or better

The minor in music literature and theory does not require an audition, but a background in music is highly desirable. A theory placement exam is required to determine the appropriate level of theory the student should be taking.

Only nine hours below the 3000 level can count toward this minor and at least 12 hours of course work must be completed at UF. If a student is interested in composition, he/she can also take MUC 1211 and MUC 1212, Composition Skills 1 and 2, to add a composition component to this minor, bringing the total hours required to 19 credits.

Students should see the undergraduate adviser before enrolling in course work. More information is available from the School of Music.
