IrfanView Installation Instructions
- If you have not done so already, download the software:
- After downloading, run the installer by selecting open from the download dialog.
- The first setup page (as seen below) shows a list of shortcuts for IrfanView. The annotations on the image and the instructions below are what we normally use.
- Click Uncheck All.
- Leave the destination folder as it is (C:\Program Files\IrfanView).
- Select Next.
- The next page shows current version information. Select Next.
- Check the tif/tiff box to associate these files with IrfanView (see below). Check the box next to For all users and select Next.
- If you prefer, you can uncheck Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer and Google Desktop Search and select Next.
- At the Ready to Install prompt, select Next. You will need to confirm that you want to change the current associations to use IrfanView, so select Yes to finish the installation.
- Now that IrfanView is installed, it will automatically open IrfanView FAQ in a new window. Click here to go through a quick tutorial about setting up IrfanView once you install it.
- Support Note: When installing Irfanview in environements where the primary user will not be an administrator, it is beneficial to give the user access to change the irfanview.ini file with the following command: cacls "%programfiles%\irfanview\i_view32.ini" /E /G "Interactive":C
